Dorothy and her gorgeous twins!

Eagle’s Roost is a little bit of paradise tucked in next to the SW corner of Pinmatik/Rocky Cape National Park in North West Tasmania.  The 18 acres consist of an acre of garden, five acres of paddocks and 12 acres of forest.  The National Park and Hellyer Beach are each only a 5 minute drive away.  The property is well sheltered from most of the prevailing winds by its own tall forest that encircles the paddocks and garden and has stunning views across Sawyer’s Bay to the Nut and Stanley.

Pia on the local beach 🙂

Eagle’s Roost is a carbon negative property (ie more carbon is stored on the property than is released through on and off farm activities).

Firebreak trails through the forest make for excellent bushwalking, birdwatching, fungi photography or orchid spotting fun.  To date over 250 species of fungi have been identified on the 12 acres of forest!  Sit for a while at the picnic spot underneath the Grandpa Tree (the highest point of the property) and soak up the view of the farm and Sister’s Hills in the National Park or potter about and explore the trails and gullies with their large man ferns, creek and more huge trees.

Feed the chooks and collect the eggs, help feed the cows their daily buckets, browse for raspberries in the extensive vegetable patch or just relax in a garden seat (or on one of the two sheltered patios) with a bottle of red and some local cheeses and watch the sun set over the bay.

Rocky Cape Road House and Rocky Cape Tavern are close by for quick meals, a relaxing drink or picking up that forgotten item.  If you’re after a special evening meal, excellent restaurants are only 30 minutes away, at Stanley or Boat Harbour, or you might choose to forage for local produce to couple with a Tasmanian wine and picnic on one of the two porches.

The Pinmatik/Rocky Cape National Park walk trails, the Tarkine Drive and all its stunning attractions (including Trowutta Arch, Milkshakes Reserve, Lake Chisholm sinkhole etc), Dip Falls, historic Stanley, Arthur River/Marrawah and the wild West Coast are easy local day trips.

Eagle’s Roost has something special to offer you, whether you’re after a bit of an adventure or a relaxing respite from your busy life
